Welcome ...

To all new subscribers since our last issue, and thank you for everyone who forwarded our newsletter "Rethink Reframe Renew" to a friend or colleague.

International Coach Week is over - and clients said about working with a coach:

  • Implementing change and coaching are a perfect match
  • Start with a vision - and then make it happen
  • A coaching relationship is based on the here and now, manifesting your vision step by step

Are you making your vision happen - or do you need to shift from thinking about it to really believe it is possible?

“Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights.”

Rethink - Reframe - Renew - The Seven Wonders of the World
by Leone Kennedy ©2006 All Rights Reserved

I remember the birth of the rethink – reframe - renew concept like it was yesterday. A group of passionate coaches on a telephone bridge, it was one of those light bulb moments when synergy creates traction and you just know in your gut that a truly wonderful development has opened up.

At the time it described what we do. What we do as coaches and what we do as human beings. It simplified many things; in particular it clarified an innate process dormant in all of us, a moment when we became fully conscious of the steps we used in our business and also within ourselves.

Rethink – Reframe – Renew suggests change of some kind. I am sure we have all heard the quote that mentions that change starts with us, from within. Change the way you perceive life’s situations.

The first step - naturally for some, you contemplate the ‘how’. How can I use this tool to make a change? With ‘how’ the emphasis is on changing the external situation. Let’s rethink this, what if you didn’t ask how, but you asked ‘what’. What do I need to change? Rethinking your approach from ‘how’ to ‘what’ shifts you from action to creativity. Instantly you have used the rethink approach to create a different outcome. Therefore rethinking is likened to recreating your perspective. If there is something in your life or business that you want to change, rethink it by asking yourself a ‘what’ question.

Tip – rethink with a clear empty head space, clear the clutter and be centered in what a new outcome will look like. Visualise yourself in the middle.

The second step – requires your imagination, a great opportunity to exercise the right side of your brain. Reframe is the communication component. How will the world see, feel and hear your change? How will you communicate what you been rethinking? I consider this a very powerful part of rethink – reframe – renew, here you have an opportunity to ‘be’ the change, and you have an opportunity to walk your talk. As you craft the words and shape the meaning to communicate your new perspective you are in the midst of reframing your new way of looking at the world. A reframed response brings about change that started from within.

Tip – reframe knowing that ‘how’ you communicate is as important as ‘what’ you communication. The rethinking process can set the scene to reframe from a new place of compassion, empathy and integrity.

The third step – is where you can sit back and allow synchronicity to create action. Renew is where accomplishment doesn’t require planning and strategy it requires focus and consistency. The rethink practice has shifted your perspective; the reframe practice has energized your communication; the renew factor is where the old is replaced with the new and a natural vigor is restored as you begin to see the world respond to you in a renewed and powerful way.

Tip – the renew part of rethink – reframe – renew is about letting go and allowing serendipity to complete the powerful wheel of change.

Recap – the next time you are presented with a 2nd chance, an opportunity to do it all over again (a bit like the movie ground hog day) stop; ask a ‘what if’ question, shape your words and look forward to the renewed response.

The Rethink – Reframe – Renew concept allows me to see opportunities to grow and constantly rediscover my version of the 7 wonders of the world – awareness, insight, consciousness, connection, intention, surrender and contribution.

Namaste!

The Cycle of Transformation
by Brigitta Keck © 2006 All Rights Reserved

Have you ever felt like your life is spinning out of control, that despite your best efforts you seem to end up where you didn’t want to go? Feeling helpless, frustrated and powerless to get what you want out of life – and confused because you do try so hard “to do the right thing”. And that may be your main problem.

Busy, busy, busy – that is the description of our lives today. Always running around and “doing” something. Time is money and we do not dare to slow down and actually reflect on where we are going.

But there is a way where you can take control and create the life you truly want.

Take advantage of the never ending cycle of “Rethink – Reframe – Renew”. We all do it to some degree, but the real power is unleashed when you do it consciously. You are responsible for your own life –and you can shake off the limits and expectations imposed on you by family, friends and society.

Rethink – Question everything

First of all – SLOW DOWN. Take a deep breath and some time for yourself.

Slow down, wake up and become aware what is happening in your life and around you. Start thinking for yourself!

Observe and notice your reactions to your everyday events, your thoughts and feelings. Learn to listen – and accept the messages you receive. Especially helpful can be things you do not like. It is a clear indicator of what you would prefer. Define what you dislike – and then turn it around. It will give you a clear indication of how you would like to live you life.

Reframe – Action has to follow Thought

With the newly acquired clarity of your situation you can start to make changes. You will begin to see your world with new eyes, and sometimes just to change your perception does wonders for how you feel. You can open yourself to opportunities you never dared to consider before.

Set boundaries. Say “No” to what you don’t want. Refuse to accept it. More importantly though, say a passionate and heartfelt “YES!” to what you truly want. Identify and clear away the obstacles that you let stay in your way.

Renew – Celebrating your new YOU

Live and experience your new life. Celebrate your success – and your so-called failures. Learn what worked for you and what did not – starting the cycle all over again.

Dare to believe. Dare to be different. Dare to be YOU!
